Hardly any sector feels the staff shortage as directly as healthcare – and hardly any has higher demands on reliability and traceability. That is why autonomous cleaning robots are deployed in hospitals first where large public areas need to be cleaned every day: entrance halls, main corridors, waiting areas. They work to a fixed schedule, document every run and make cleaning performance objectively verifiable for the first time.

Which areas are suitable for robot deployment?

The greatest benefit comes from large, publicly accessible circulation areas: corridors, entrance areas, waiting zones, the cafeteria. Sensitive areas such as operating theatres, intensive care or isolation wards remain with the established manual processes – we define this together with hygiene and housekeeping teams during the site analysis. The robots clean the agreed routes only.

How is cleaning documented?

Every run generates a report with cleaned area, route and duration. These reports can be used for internal quality assurance and as evidence for operators and auditors – a point where manual cleaning structurally cannot keep up.

What about data protection and IT security?

The robots' cameras and sensors are used for navigation and obstacle avoidance. On request, we provide the IT department, data protection officers and the works council with the complete documentation of the systems in use, and clarify network integration and approvals before the roll-out – not afterwards.

Hygiene in the hospital environment

The robot takes over the routine maintenance cleaning of public corridors and areas. Certified surface disinfection in line with the hygiene plan remains a separate, coordinated task.

Can the robot clean at night or during off-peak hours?+
Yes – cleaning times are scheduled freely. Many facilities have their public areas cleaned in the early morning hours when there is little activity. The robot starts autonomously to schedule and documents every run.
How does the robot cope with beds, wheelchairs and visitor traffic?+
The machines work with all-round sensors and obstacle avoidance: they detect beds, wheelchairs and people, slow down and steer around them or stop. Busy periods can be avoided by scheduling cleaning in quieter off-peak hours. Patient rooms remain the staff's responsibility – the robot handles the public corridors and areas.
What documentation do our IT department and works council receive?+
On request, we provide the complete data protection and security documentation: a description of the data flows, details on camera use (navigation and obstacle avoidance only), on storage and on GDPR compliance. This allows IT and the works council to review and approve the deployment in advance.
Does the robot also handle disinfection cleaning?+
The scrubber-dryer robots carry out the routine maintenance cleaning of large areas. Certified surface disinfection in line with the hygiene plan is a separate task and is coordinated individually in the concept – the robot creates capacity for it by taking over the daily base cleaning.
How do we start – a single area or the whole facility?+
Usually with an on-site demonstration and a clearly defined area – such as a corridor section or one level. After set-up and training, we extend the deployment step by step to further areas.
